Giving

"But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:20-21 NIV

In Christ we are commanded to live generously and in service to one another. At Hope Community Church, this is a daily act of worship that we work towards. Giving is an act of worship to God because it demonstrates our utter dependence on Him and our willingness to submit to His will.

"Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 NIV

So we are called to give cheerfully as much as we are led, and God blesses us abundantly for our obedience. But this blessing from God does not necessarily manifest itself in material wealth and comfort. Rather, it is an assurance that God will provide for all of our necessities so that we need not worry. We can trust in Him in all things.

Our offerings at Hope Community Church go directly to support our ministry here in the Mount Pleasant/Racine area and the work being done all around the world. We support ministry through church-wide contributions to the Southern Baptist Convention, Minnesota-Wisconsin Baptist Convention, and Lakeland Baptist Association as well as personal support to missionaries we know around the world and pray for congregationally every Sunday.
